Probate of Estates and Settlements of Living Trusts
Losing a loved one is a difficult process for any family member. We understand and appreciate what a difficult time this can be. The process of "winding down" the affairs of a loved one is called "Estate Settlement". The settlement process differs based on whether a will or trust was utilized to plan the estate as well as the size and nature of the assets in the estate. We have assisted many families over the years with the settlement process. Our goal is to provide individual levels of service in a caring and compassionate manner. We offer a no cost and no obligation initial settlement conference to address your questions and to identify what tasks need to be completed to complete the settlement process. Clients participating in our LifeSpan Legal Services Program™ enjoy the benefit of a fixed fee settlement quoted in advance to named successor trustees, as well as an extensive Family Education Program™ to help prepare them for what they'll experience in the settlement process.
We have historically limited our settlement services to LifeSpan Legal Services™ clients. Recently, our Truth About Estate Settlement™ program has generated requests for assistance from other families. In these instances, our fees will vary based on the amount of work that needs to be performed, which varies greatly based on the condition of a "non-maintained" estate and on the preparation level of the successor trustees. We provide detailed information regarding our fees at the conclusion of an initial settlement conference.
